Sunday, at home

All,
Sick guy again.
It is almost my bed time. Please forgive me for not sending a note today. We got to spend some time with Jordan this afternoon, and a friend from Guntersville came by.
Pre-season football is on. When did we get into August?!?! I am really behind.
Right now i am watching a bit of NFL history in the making. Bret Favre (whom i met at USM in 1989) is now playing for the New York Jets. Since 1992 he has been the starting QB for the Green Bay Packers. He retired last year and wanted to come back for another season. Who cam blame him? He is being paid almost $13 million for about 16 weeks of play. All that being said; tonight he is on the side line. He isn't even in uniform. He is just standing there talking to his new team mates.
The sidelines are a hard place to be when you are used to playing the game. Soon Bret will make his way into the uniform and the game. So will your pastor. Favre may make is NY start before I make my return, but don't bet against me yet. I will see you soon.
Tomorrow our children will be starting school. Please join me in praying for them as they make their way down strange halls, meet new teachers, learn new routines, and make new friends. These are great and dangerous days. Let us join our hearts in prayer for every teacher and every child and every administrator. These are our responsibility. Let us take them seriously.
Blessings,
PA

Nette and I are constantly pulling for you and anxiously waiting to pull down your next sermon from the summit web site. I know race horses are not comfortably hobbled. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit and I hope He'll hurry in your case and make it unnecessary! :o)
Love ya, Bob and Annette

I'm so glad that y'all got to see Jordan today. We had a great day, too. Worship was fabulous and quite emotional. God's glory was magnified and His grace is incredible.

We're still all praying for your comfort. Take care and do not rush your health. Denise, we want you to rest, too!

It's so nice to have you back home even though we don't see you yet.
Love from the Houghs!

Hey Aaron,

While you're on the sideline, be sure to rest and take it easy so you're at full strength when the Ultimate Coach says, "JOHNSON, GET OUT THERE!" Also, watch out that someone doesn't dump the gatorade cooler on you.. :-) Can't wait to see the theology in your posts! Thanks for being a blessing..

To add to Dan's post,
You never cease to amaze me with your integrity and thoughtfulness. We are so blessed with a compassionate and caring pastor who is always watching out for his flock.

Continuing to pray,

I graduated from Southern Miss in 1987, Brett Favre's freshman year. You must have been at USM in 1989 when Auburn beat us at home 24-3. But remember this headline from 1990?

SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI KEEPS AUBURN REELING 13-12

Source: Mercury News Wire Services
Anthony Harris caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Brett Favre with 46 seconds left, and Southern Mississippi shocked No. 15 Auburn 13-12 on Saturday in Auburn, Ala. It arguably was their biggest upset loss in 10 seasons under Coach Pat Dye.

Brett Favre was quite the comeback kid in college... still is. I remember USM knocking off #6 Florida State on September 2nd of 1989 in the last few seconds of the game. The receiver who caught the winning pass never looked back for the ball. He just stuck his hands up, pulled it in, and ran into the end-zone for the win. I was at that game. Later they asked the receiver how he knew when to put up his arms to catch the ball. His reply, "I heard the ball coming!" That's not so hard to believe when you understand who threw that rocket!

Pastor... we are patiently waiting for Comeback Kid Johnson to get healed up and deftly drop theological spirals over the shoulder's of your flock, speeding down the field of life, as we forget "what is behind and strain toward what is ahead... pressing on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called (us) heavenward in Christ Jesus". Philippians 3:13-15

And, Pastor, I do hope you saw the video Paula posted of the guy dead-lifting 600lbs only eight months after getting a J-pouch. Lane played the video in Sunday School and it was incredible.

Blessings from Philadelphia,
Bill

P.S. I'm trying to sell a beautiful Green Bay Packer t-shirt for $20 or will trade for like-quality New York Jets t-shirt ;)

It's now Monday morning and I'm still stuck at work, but glad to read your update and looking forward to having you back in uniform and on the playing field.

Don't forget to pray for the Gospel tracts that will go out today as the first day of school, Summit's students should be loaded up and ready to go. We might also add a prayer that none of them get suspended, or if they are dragged before principals for Christ's sake, that they have the presense of mind to bear witness to the truth. (Matt 10:18)

Prayers continue,
Canyon

We praise our Lord for your healing thus far and your healing to come. Please make sure that your return is in God's time. We are ready for your return as much as you are. But not at the expense of your health. Don't want to be a frowner, but it is so important for you to be rested and ready. We love you Aaron! God Bless.

Brett Favre didn't just have MAJOR abdominal surgery. He just got tired and bored of sitting in Kiln, MS with nothing to do (once I said Kiln I didn't really need to say nothing to do, did I?). Can't say I blame him. Having spent some time in "unicorporated" areas of MS I can say I'd play for the Falcons before I'd do that.

You just get better - we need you back HEALTHY.

Brother Aaron and Denise,

Again my prayers continue for complete healing and strength.

I know you always use your personal time with the LORD fully, I saw this from the beginning of your ministry back at FBC Boaz.
Now is the time to heal, but also a time to tackle that study project or special study that God has placed in your heart.

You have been a great testimony through this blog as well as the many servants of the LORD who have posted here.

Pastor Aaron, Guess what, I don't know anything about Brett Favre, how's that for all you sports fans. Don't mean to cut him short for his abilities but sure hope he knows Jesus as we all stand in the same spot at the pearly gates. I am so glad Jordan was able to visit with you and Denise. You can probably see him growing up more, now that he is away from home, working and getting ready for school. He is probably not the same young man who left at the first of June. I know you are very proud of him and what he is doing on his own. Church yesterday was definitely an improvement over those Veggie Tales. Praises to all of those who bore their soles to all of us.
Yesterday we took Hannah and Elizabeth to Kennesaw Mountain and did some rock climbing and hicking, today we were both trying to help each other out of bed. Don't think you are the only one who is out of shape. But the view on top of the mountain was worth it. You will be looking out over your mountain soon.
Hope you will gain strength today to build on for tomorrow.
Love to both of you, Linda Ward

It's always so inspiring to hear you so positive. I enjoy reading your blog so much as i can hear your voice when i read your postings. The kids and i were on vacation last week and i missed knowing how you were adjusting at home; however, looking at the beauty of the beaches and Gods miracles, i knew you and Denise were having a wonderful week as well. We all continue to pray for your speedy healing. I have several coworkers that check with me on you weekly. Know that lots of blessings are being sent up with all four of your names on them!

Love The Borkats
