End of day one

Friends,
To be honest today started out pretty bad -- just to be completely honest completely terrible!! At 4:30 a.m. this morning i don't think Aaron had had 10 minutes of sleep. Then from about 9:00 a.m. on it has steadily improved. Hum! that would be just about the time i posted my post - you might just think that prayer 'thing' works! Thanks to mighty prayer warriors like Clark, Andrew, Caleb, Kathryn . . . and the list goes on and on we have had an amazingly good day! Especially considering it is the 1st day post-op. Aaron has only had one pain shot ( he does have his pump he can push at will) and that pain shot was before getting up to sit in the recliner for about 20 minutes! He did not request it the nurse thought it best. Then he got himself, with very little assistence from me back into the bed. He has had no nausea medication today and has sleep fairly peacefully. He is asleep now and i must say i have never heard a sweeter sound than his snoring! It is beautiful!!
Good night and thanks for the prayers and sweet, sweet words . . .
much love

Hey Denise and Aaron,

Thank you for the updates on the blog. Please know that the Ratcliffes are praying for both of you. Kathy says (in her nurse way), "Aaron, take the pain medicine! Don't try to be brave. It makes for a faster recovery!" And forget about the popsicles...think about the chockie milk!! We love ya'll.

Pastor Aaron and Denise,
Thank God for the good report. Please know that both of you and your family will stay in our prayers as you continue your recovery. We pray that God will give you strength, resolve and patience and that He will wrap his arms around you throughout every day.

Dawn promises a week's worth of desserts as soon as you can enjoy them again and I can say it will be worth the wait!

Love,
Brian, Dawn, Garrett, Owen and Kenzie Pendley

Pastor Aaron and Denise,

I'm so pleased to hear the good report. Know that you are held close in our prayers during this time. I'm also adding you to our prayer list at First Baptist Church, Petersburg, TN. Will Weir is sitting beside me right now causing all kinds of stress for me. So many memories and so many things to be grateful for your presence in our lives. I did send a prior comment and am unsure if it went through so I'm sending this one again.

With much love,
Doug, Laurie, Stephanie, Rebecca, Sara, and Caroline Brown

Brother and Sister,

Glad to hear that the day has gone more easily for you than last night. In the difficult moments when the pain comes, whether the pain be in your body, or in the body of your beloved, be assured that God is with you. Remember that everything that comes to pass in our lives is chosen by God with the ultimate end of glorifying His Name and building His kingdom in us and in others. Have we not together raised our voices to sing the words “I surrender all”? How then can we shrink back when our Lord says to us “give Me your pride”, or “give Me your son’s chromosomes”, or “give Me your colon”? Have we not said to our Master “I am willing to die for You”? How then can we refuse when He says to us “I want you to live for Me”, even though we are homesick to be with Him? There is no depth of pain so deep that He cannot comfort us, nor road so treacherous that He cannot carry us. Our God is omnipotent, omniscient, righteous, and holy. This same God loves us more than we can comprehend. If we can trust Him with eternity, how can we not trust Him with our transient earthly lives? I know you guys know these things, but I write them to remind you and to encourage you. May the love and peace of Christ Jesus guard your hearts and minds as He heals your body. We love you guys and will continue to pray.

Oh, I am so thankful to our God who hears our prayers and then answers them so quickly. Our Andrew and Caleb are still praying...they'll be pleased to see their names in cyberspace. I was tickled by the earlier comment about telling Aaron that a Marine was better in a shorter time. It reminded me of another blog that, when Aaron feels like hearing about, might just motivate him. It's not about a Marine, but a GIRL---ewww... ;-) It's written by a believing husband who's wife has cystic fibrosis, miraculously had a baby, then a lung transplant. Website is http://cfhusband.blogspot.com/

Love,
Luci (and the rest of the Galloway's)

As I was praying this morning, I heard this song and was reminded of you. My prayer is for you to have strength for today and a bright hope for tomorrow.
Tina Buchanan
------------
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Pastor Aaron and Denise,
We can't wait for the pain to go away. Along with the rest of the world, we're praying for all of you. (Have you given all of the employees at the hospital a heads up to know that at some point they will probably be part of a sermon illustration?)

God is good all the time!
We love you!
