Hey friends,
Today has been 'pretty' good. Aaron has not "felt" as well - probably because of the lack of a good nights sleep. Hopefully tonight he will get that. He walked 3 times up and down the hallway. Little nausea still and having to take something for that but tolerating the pain pretty well (he is the tough one in the family!!)
I was talking to a friend earlier and they were asking about Aaron's incision and such. So Aaron thought it might be a good idea to address this on the blog. I counted the staples in his tummy and there were 42 that i could count. There may be one more in his belly button and a couple more under the bandage for his G tube. He has 5 tubes taking things from his body and a port with 5 'plugs' to put things in and the draw blood. He should get one of the drains from him taken out Tuesday - possibly tomorrow if he can talk the Doc into it. The rest will stay with him for at least 11 more days. As you can see he has good reason to not sleep well!!
Thanks for the continued prayer - and the sweet words, we both look forward to reading the post . . . and hearing from home . . .

Aaron and Denise,
I just got the link to this blog tonight. I am so glad to hear that things are going fairly well. You are both in my prayers. It looks like you guys are going to be in St. Pete for awhile. Please, if there is anything at all that either of you need...don't hesitate to call (941-981-3318) or email (kyliediamond1@yahoo.com) me. I only live about 30 - 40 minutes from where you are now. Take care.
Love you,
Kylie (Diamond) Johnston
Just getting to work for the night and wanted to let you guys know you are on my heart. I will be lifting you both up all night long, praying for rest, comfort & peace.
Love in Christ,
Richard
Hey there Dragon Lady and Aaron,
Sounds like things are moving right along w/ the sitting up and walking. That's great! Sorry to hear you guys are not getting much sleep. Hospitals are not a place to get rest that is for sure. But all you can do is take it one day at a time and hey you are one day closer to that popsicle:) WOOHOO!!!
We are getting ready to celebrate Jonathan's 1 year birthday on Tuesday! Can you believe it? I was thinking today as I was looking back at pictures of him in the NICU how fast this year has gone by. It seems like just yesterday you guys were by mine and Jerry's side in the NICU giving us much needed prayers, comfort and support (and Denise your shoulder to cry on). You'll never know how much that meant to us. Know that we are sending our prayers down to Florida and up to heaven to you guys and lots of hugs too. (Jonathan sends a special "cheek to cheek" hug to Aaron). We hope he feels better soon and that ya'll get some much needed rest.
We appreciate and love you guys,
Amanda, Jerry, Lauren and Jonathan
I just wanted to let you guys know we are thinking about you. I am so glad to here that Aaron is being such a trouper. We love you guys dearly and I pray for restful nights for you guys. Know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

We just did a concert about Heaven tonight at Central Park Baptist. I know you're not ready to go yet, but isn't it great to know one day we'll be in a place with no tubes. pain pills or staying in bed. Where "Victory in Jesus" will be on our lips and in our hearts all the time. We're praying that first you'll have a quick recovery, get back to work and one day many years from now this will just be a blip in your memory.

Pastor and Denise... you must get the audio from this morning's service. The youth praise band glorified God in a big way. You would be so proud of them.
Keeping you in our prayers...
Bill, Paula, Gabbie, and Kevin
AJ,
To help you pass the time I thought I'd share a couple of quotes from my "other hero" Erk:
"I was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame- 500 people in a big room- and a man with a roving microphone stuck it in front of my wife and said, 'How did a nice looking lady like you live with this old bald-headed so and so for so many years?' And without blinking she said, 'He was never at home'"
"I was a pretty good kid. I really didn't get into too much trouble. On one occassion, just after school, a group of boys met in the boys' bathroom and somebody was rolling dice...I remember, I stepped in and said, "My turn" and I put a dime down there and my point was 10...I was saying "Come on 10, come on 10" and I looked around all of a sudden and there was nobody there. And I turned all the way around and our shop teacher, Mr. Sparks, said "Come on Russell."...I learned a good lesson: Don't try to make 10."
This one especially for you:
"I have very little use for cell phones, but they seem to be free on the weekends."
Praying you get a good night's sleep.

Hey, just checking the blog as I watch "Next Food Network Star" (can you tell I don't have control of the remote at the moment?) We're praying for a restful night sleep, the kind King Solomon spoke about -
"When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet." Prov 3:24
We had a great outreach event at Hamby Place yesterday. I think there were as many people from Summit as there were from the subdivision. The band played, we cooked them a bunch of food and setup an inflatable for the kids. Gotta give Jud props, he did a great job.
I've been writing papers all day for my workshop next week - I leave next Sunday to drive down. I'm pretty pumped.
I think if I type a little longer I'll probably set the record for the longest post. I'd rather you set the record for fastest recovery. We'll keep praying for that. Later.

Dear Denise and Aaron,
We are praying for you both constantly! Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts with us, it means so much because we care so much for the both of you. A popsicle huh?? hum..sounds yummy! Just a little while longer! We'll keep praying, you keep getting better, no running in the hall, and try to rest! (both of you!) :-)
Love to you both,
Henry and Lisa
Aaron and Denise,
We have been to Ohio for the weekend so just now checked back in. We are glad to hear you are having good days and each day seems to be getting better. I know those mean nurses are making you get up and move but that is very good. And yes those hiccups and coughs and sneezes aren't welcomed right now I am sure too. Know that we have people in Illinois, Missouri, and Ohio praying for you and your recovery and your wonderful family. In His Name Dianne, Jim and Becky Snyder
Denise and Aaron,
You have given us good news in your latest blog so Jerry and I wanted to let you know that things are going along great at Summit in your absence. (You would be proud of us.) This morning all the men so wanted to preach that they had a little fight in the parking lot to determine who would get to give the sermon. But don't worry, before the police got there it was settled, and since Johnny Murphine's clothes were the cleanest and he had the least scratches, he got to deliver the sermon. Also, don't worry about the music, Dave went out and rounded up group of those "teenagers" we have to worry about all the time to sing and we are happy to report that they actually knew the words to Christain songs. I do need to tell you one thing. When it was time to hand out the small gift to newcomers, a whole lot of the Summit people sat there to get that little loaf of bread. Now I want to put your mind at ease about the rest of the Sunday's, we have them covered. Next week we will be playing PASTOR bingo to see who gets to preach! Knowing all of this, I am sure you will now be able to rest!
With our love and prayers,
Pam and Jerry Moss
Well now the truth comes out.... Aaron has figured out a short-cut (pun optional) to being more holy (pun strictly intentional). Let's see, 5 tubes + 1 pentaplex + about 42x2 stitch holes, plus the several naturally occuring ones and that's about 100 holes! Guess we'll be getting nothing but high-brow sermons when you get back :] You might even be too devout to ride in that yeller midget truck of yours (course, Denise did have a more descriptive phrase for it, if I recall). Love ya bro :]
Sleep well, brother (and sister),
Chris
"Let the weak say I am strong."(Joel 3:10 KJV)I am glad to hear you are up and moveing. God is giveing you your strength back so quickly.God is good! If there is anything I can do for you or your family please let me know. You are in are prayers.

We are so glad things are getting better with each day! From reading your comments it appears to me that no matter how far you roam you still can't get away from people like "Robert Trent"! I think you will understand!ha! I hope tonight brings much needed rest!! Ya'll are loved!

Well, it is way to late for me to be up, but I figured that you are up to so why not post. You both (and anyone else that knows me)know that I have the knack for having great intentions but saying the wrong thing. Therefore, I will leave it at this. We will keep praying and you keep healing. If there was ever any doubt as to wehter our GOD is still in the miracle business, I would simply say look at Aaron and Mac. When we are faithful to pray he is faithful to hear. I love you both and look forward to your return.
Your Brother in Christ

Starting Monday off with prayer headed your way. - Canyon
Aaron and Denise,
Sorry we are just now "checking in"...been out of town, but we've been checking on your progress. Sounds like Aaron is trudging through all of this, like we all knew he would, with the "dragon lady" by his side.
So glad to hear things are moving along...walking!! That's great!!
It's almost hard to imagine Aaron being STILL.
The kids and I where talking the other day about you scaling down the side of the church building during VBS-3 stories!!! NO FEAR!!
You will be back to your old tricks in no time.
I hope and pray that you will be blessed with a good day...less pain and more rest for you both!
Please know that you have been in our hearts and especially our prayers. We love you and your family very much!
Veronica, Eddie, Morgan and Mary Claire
Denise, Thanks so much for keeping us up to date with this blog. So glad to hear Aaron's up and moving and praying each hour is just a little better. I can only imagine how stir-crazy he is since he's always in motion. I think he'd be way more comfortable out in the camper!! We pray for some rest for you both. Take care and know we love you. Clark & Lynn
A couple more updates from the home front:
Leon gave us the stats from VBS. approximately 685 kids in attendance with 11 professions of faith. God is good.
We just got an email about the Ukraine mission team. They had plane trouble about 2 hours into the flight and had to turn around and come back. They made an emergency landing - assuming crash position no less. Overall the trip took 42 hours to get there. Whew! I'm trying to imagine 42 hours on a plane. I can see Jimmy leading them in a few verses of "I Will Survive." ;~> Since then they've hit the ground running and led in two worship services.
Praying you'll have an encouraging day today...
Lane
Bro. Aaron & Denise - What a blessing it is to read of your progress and of God's Faithfulness to His children. Know that you both are being bathed in prayer by your brothers and sisters in Athens. We will continue to pray for restful sleep and painfree days (with or without the help of medication). Much Love - Snow & Lea
Pastor Aaron and Denise, When I woke up this morning I couldn't wait to get to the computer to get an update on you and how your day and night went. I am so sorry you are not getting good rest but with all the tubes and constant monitoring by the nurses I'm sure it is hard to get anything but a short nap. I hope you will be able to get some good naps today and sleep tonight. Ouch, you have a lot of staples. I wish that I could take some of your pain and bear it myself but since I can't do that I will pray that this too will pass soon. Denise, I know it is hard for you to see Aaron in pain and not be able to do anything, I pray for strength for you both physical and mental as you stay by him. Just know that prayers are being said for both of you by many people all day. Love, Linda Ward
I just found your blog through Jessalee's blog. I had no idea this was going on. Please know that Chris and I will be praying for you both daily. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do for you. Also, thank you for keeping the blog updated so that we will know how to pray.
We love you both!
Bonnie and Chris
